~Robb Daly~
~BIO~
Robb Daly began avidly creating art at the early age of 5, holding his own themed art shows for his family to view in his room in Buffalo, New York. His early years were spent as an Air Force brat in Greece, New York, and Seattle. Throughout his life, Daly immersed himself in a multitude of art mediums ranging from mixed media tribal art to abstract expressionist painting. This path eventually lead him to the University of Redlands, where he was recruited for NCAA swimming & water polo and majored in Studio Art. During this time, Robb also explored the tribal arts of Africa and Oceania as well as marine biology, all of which continue to be a major influence in his creations. Daly's artwork has been displayed in numerous locations throughout Southern California and Seattle, which can be seen in private collections, various murals and urban clothing print designs. Robb currently resides in San Diego, California where he splits his time between creating a wide range of artwork, conducting ocean kayak & snorkel tours and teaching k-12 arts education. To date, Daly has taught over 30,000 children in the San Diego area. He also specializes in large canine co-habitation.
~ARTIST'S STATEMENT~
Art has influenced almost every aspect of my life and I find its inspiration in many different forms. Whether it is the captivating beauty of a creature, the inspiration from an ancient craftsman, the compelling graphics of urban street art, the work of a fellow artist, or watching my students develop their own skills, art has always been an inspiration in my life.
I am often deeply involved in the creation, expression and evolution of several pieces of my artwork at one time, while also working in several different mediums. This enables me to indulge in a variety of art forms (painting, graphic design, illustration & sculpture) while maintaining focus on keeping my art fresh, interesting and inspiring to myself and others. When it comes to creating art, I see myself as a perfectionist, for at times I spend long hours drawing and erasing illustrations, blending and re-blending the rich colors of a painting, or balancing the composition in a sculpture or design until it is exact.
My experiences with art have shown me that one of the only things that I enjoy as much as creating art is teaching others that they can make beautiful art with limitless boundaries. Through my creations and my students, I have found it to be truly rewarding to be part of the educational and emotional process when developing the skills of the artist inside myself and each individual that I teach. The evolution of my students adds to my own personal and creative growth and is one of the driving forces that fuels my artistic energy. I feel that there is an artist in every one of us; sometimes it is evident and sometimes it must be brought out.
